Frank J. Dana III, CELA, as certified by the National Elder Law Foundation
Frank was born in Columbia, SC, and graduated from Davidson College, in Davidson, NC, with a BS in Mathematics in 1972 and from Duke Law School in Durham, NC, with a J.D. in 1975. At Davidson, he was a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Fraternity and the varsity tennis team. At Duke, he was a member of the Duke Law Journal staff and Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity. He was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1975. Frank practiced with a large litigation-oriented firm for several years and later worked as Vice President and Trust Officer for a Greenville bank trust department. He left this post in 1986 and has practiced on his own in Greenville for more than 20 years.
Frank is currently a member of the Greenville County Bar Association, the Greenville Estate Planning Council, the South Carolina Bar, the American Bar Association, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He was certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation in 2003. He currently serves on several national committees of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and is the President of the South Carolina Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys for 2010. Locally, Frank is a member of the Upstate Senior Network and the Senior Resource Alliance.
Frank has served as vestry member and Treasurer of St. James Episcopal Church and on the Diocesan Stewardship Commission for the Episcopal Diocese of Upper South Carolina. He is currently a member of Christ Episcopal Church. He is a former state chair of the South Carolina Chapter of the Sierra Club and is recipient of a national Chapter Service Award and chapter Conservationist Award. He is also a former President of Gower Estates Pool, Inc. An avid tennis player, Frank plays on a USTA senior doubles team. Frank and his wife, Susan, have a daughter, Caroline, who graduated from the University of Georgia in 2008.
Candice Brooks, Administrative Assistant
Candice is the first person you see when you come to Upstate Elder Law, P.A. or the first voice you hear when you call. Candi was born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised in Central, South Carolina. She graduated from Easley High School. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and designing flower arrangements for weddings and special events.
Susan H. Dana, Office Manager
Susan, Frank's wife, formally joined Upstate Elder Law, P.A. in the Fall of 2003. She holds an undergraduate degree from Ball State University and a Master's degree from Converse College. Susan taught first grade for twenty years at Sara Collins Elementary School in Greenville, South Carolina. She has been a PTA President, Girl Scout Leader, and a volunteer in the Altar Guild at Christ Church.
